What are Judicial Candidate Screening Committees?

Judicial candidate screening committees are independent or government-appointed panels that evaluate the qualifications of judicial candidates to ensure that only the most competent and ethical individuals are appointed or elected to the bench.

Janice Purvis appeared before the following Screening Committees and received the following ratings:

 

• Brooklyn Bar Association – APPROVED for the position of Judge of the Civil Court

 

• Democratic Party in and for Kings County – QUALIFIED for the position of Judge of the Civil Court

 

• LGBT Bar Association of Greater New York – APPROVED for the position of Judge of the Civil Court

 

• New York City Bar Association – APPROVED for the position of Judge of the Civil Court
